Prize Draw, BMW Motorrad Dalkeith, February 28th 2009
By midday it was already busy at
Motorrad Dalkeith. Jim, Budgie, Big Craigy, Nick and all the staff at Motorrad were selling raffle tickets like hot cakes! Tom Russell arrived as he said he would, even though he had presented another late rock show on
96.3 until past midnight. Next to arrive was one of the all time great riders, Jim Moodie, who held a fantastic question and answer session for over an hour. Then Fish arrived, so it was all systems go! The Tombola was set up and all the ticket stubs were piled in, Fish and Tom took their places and rolled the tickets. Tom pulled the winner and Fish announced that it was Jim Byrne from Linlithgow, who happened to be watching from the front - he nearly fainted!
Many, many thanks go to:
- All the staff at BMW Motorrad for the help
- Harvey for the questions and George Gibson for bringing Jim Moodie through
- The Torphichen church for the use of the Tombola
- Graham for the helmet and model raffle
- Tracy for selling tickets
- Tina for all the help
- All the special guests who were there
- Sean for making the trip north, Jim and Ian are still wishing you could make the Alps run
- The team of Anotherwayaround, cheers fellas!

Auction night, Beecraigs Restaurant, February 24th 2009
7.30pm and most of the guests had arrived including Sean Jones, Lesley and Matthew who had made the trip up from the Midlands. Chick Young, Fish and Katie, Tom Russell with his wife Sandra, and Peter from Grafixation were the next to arrive but no Mo. Good to talk to you Peter and so sorry about your back Mo, we were all looking forward to meeting you - 8 or 9 bikers will turn up on your door in the very near future.
(Mo says: "I'm looking forward to that, guys. I was so disappointed that I couldn't be there. I had a lonely fish supper!)
Dinner was served, 4 courses delivered in good style and greatly appreciated, then Chick Young gave his after dinner talk.
This was followed by the auction itself, presented by Helen who is an auctioneer by trade. All the lots were sold but didn't raise as much as last year's auction - that was to be expected with the state of the economy.
So that was the auction over for another year. Massive thanks go to:
- John Yeardley of Woodward Foods
- Mark at Brakes
- Ian Black for all the sea trout
- Ian at Wilsons fruit and veg
- A.I.B Entertainments for the PA system
- Calluna Flowers for decorating all the tables
- The kitchen staff: Jim Mitchell, Tam (aka Searge), 'Chip pan' Johnny, big Jock and Monica
- All the waiting staff, they did a fantastic job
- Brian and Gill for letting us do the gig in the first place
- Chick Young, Fish and Katie, Tam Russell and Sandra
- Finally thanks to all the guests for coming on the night and helping us to reach our target.
